Tuition Assistance Keeps Capitol Lakes Staff Working Through School

Born in Massachusetts to Cambodian immigrant parents, Susana Sar has lived in Wisconsin long enough to consider herself from the Badger state. She first joined the Capitol Lakes family in 2016 - beginning her career here as a full-time dietary aide in the Health Center. However, she knew she wanted to do more in the healthcare setting and so after working for a while she made the decision to go back to school. As she says:

Capitol Lakes made it easy to go back to school because of the hours and the flexibility to work with my school schedule. The tuition assistance from the Capitol Lakes Foundation also meant a lot. There were many times I was struggling to pay for my tuition and I knew I could turn to Capitol Lakes' tuition assistance to help me.

In June 2024 Susana's hard work paid off as she graduated from Madison Area Technical College with an Associate Degree as a radiographer. She currently works as a radiologic technologist at an urgent care with a goal to grow her career and become a radiation therapist. Despite her success, Susana continues to work at Capitol Lakes by picking up shifts at Seasons. Here is why she keeps working here:

What I like best about my job here at Capitol Lakes is getting to know many of the residents here and learning about the amazing things they did in life which inspires me to do more. I also love seeing their smiles when I work with them. Lastly, my coworkers who always make work fun when I'm having a tough day.

Thanks to your support, we can help great staff like Susana with their tuition - keeping them working at Capitol Lakes through their schooling and beyond.
